SOUTH COAST WIND AND WATER
Silver Sands, Barbados
A breezy south-coast beach known for windsurfing and kitesurfing, close to Ocean Spray at Inch Marlow.
WHAT IT IS REALLY LIKE
White sand, strong wind and serious water sports
Silver Sands is one of Barbados’ best-known windsurfing and kitesurfing beaches. The trade winds and waves create the conditions riders come for.
The same conditions mean the water can be challenging. Barbados Tourism notes strong currents and no lifeguard, and does not recommend the beach for casual swimming. For a calmer swim, ask the Ocean Spray team about Miami Beach at Enterprise.
For wind and kite
Consistent breeze and wave action make Silver Sands a landmark for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
For a quiet beach day
The setting feels secluded, with white sand and fewer resort-style facilities than the busier west-coast beaches.
For safer planning
Check conditions locally, use a qualified water-sports operator, and choose a lifeguarded or calmer beach when that suits your group.
